![]() This test has been adopted by many universities across the United States. The PACER is very easy to administer and score so it is suitable for use with students. It is also an excellent tool for measuring fitness levels because people of all ages can participate in this test. The PACER can measure maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) which is a good indicator of an individual's endurance capability. The last distance covered by any student during the test is used to determine final score. The test requires students to maintain their average speed for one full minute, then walk ten meters and rest before repeating the process twice more for a total of three runs. Students sprint back and forth over a 20-meter stretch at a quicker rate with each passing minute. The PACER's goal is to run as far as possible while maintaining a set speed. The PACER is intended to assess aerobic capacity, which includes endurance, performance, and fitness.
